The Attraction Power of Heart and Mind
Among the great gifts of God is our heart and mind. Both manifest our likeness to divinity. Both expresses our creative power. Our life - including its outward manifestation - is the result of the divine heart and mind acting in and through our heart and mind. Our mind is our power to imagine, to see beyond what is already visible, hence it is the seat of our creative power, it is our power to create. It is a power that is always there, working day and night. It creates for us the life we live whether we like it or not, whether we are aware or not. What we focus our mind on becomes our reality. Our mind alone is unpredictable. It can bring order and beauty, or it can bring chaos and ugliness. It can be at the mercy of outward circumstances and bring us to a life we do not want. Our heart is the center of our being. It is our power to choose. With the heart we can choose what the mind imagine and choose the life we want. But the heart can be subverted. It can be corrupted. Yet its power remains. A corrupted heart continues to choose thoughts that corrupt and brings corruption to one's life and that of others. It is for this reason that the wisdom of the ages teaches us to guard our hearts. "Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." (Proverbs 4:23, RSV). A powerful way to guard one's heart and attract the good things of the universe towards our vision of what is good for our lives is to focus on ". . . whatever is rue,whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious,if there is any excellence,if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
